After months of training and preparation, our director Wayne Kenward finally faced the daunting challenge of the 44th London Marathon on Sunday 21st of April 2024. Over 50,000 runners took to the streets of London early in the morning of Sunday to attempt to run 42 kilometres to the finish line, travelling from Greenwich Park all the way to Buckingham Palace.
Finishing in an incredible time of 4 hours and 26 minutes, Wayne surpassed the average time for his age range. The London Marathon is always home to a vast array of running ability, ranging from elite athlete Alexander Munyao’s time of 2:04:01 to 75 year old Fred Tomlinson completing the course in just over 13 hours. It’s an event where estate agents can stride alongside world-class talent, showcasing the spirit of inclusivity and inspiration!
Here at Bacon & Company, we pride ourselves on our friendly and personal approach to selling your house, and this extends from the tight-knit bonds that our staff share with each other. This was exemplified by the entirety of Wayne’s Worthing branch staff travelling up to London to support him! Chris, Harry, Georgina and Jenny’s support gave him the extra moral boost he needed during his 26 miles of endurance.
The iconic race has raised over £1 billion since its inception in 1981 and every year continues to raise vital aid for numerous charities. Wayne ended up shattering his ambitious fundraising goal of £2,500 and is currently more than £1000 over target.
